Course Description

This class is based on a five-year history cycle and is taught using Charlotte Mason methods of oral and written narration and dictation. For the 2025-26 school year, this class will be covering Ancient History. In this class, the students will engage in Socratic discussion about peers with the supervision and direction of an experienced teacher. From a Christian worldview, the class will cover History, Literature, Grammar, Writing & Composition, Worldview, Church History & Debate. Students will also be expected to be in God’s Word every day. The textbooks are carefully reviewed and selected based on the overall needs of the current class.

This class can be customizable by the parents. If there is a book you’d like to leave off or replace with another, that is perfectly acceptable.

Full Credits: 1 English, 1 History, 1 Literature

Half Credits: 1/2 Citizenship, 1/2 Speech & Debate (Speech: Students will present quarterly papers in class and learn public speaking skills throughout the year. Debate: During the third quarter, students will learn and take part in Lincoln-Douglas debates in class. )

Upperclassmen Credits: 1 Government, 1 Economics

Requirements: Approximately 2 hours of daily work at home.
