What’s PEG?
The History:
PEG started as a group of three families that wanted both community and to achieve something academic while gathering. The consensus was that “science is more fun together!”. After the first year, with more families interested in joining, it seemed fitting to name the group. Because the homeschooling philosophies of the families were bent towards the teachings of Charlotte Mason, it was decided that the group would be called PEG based on the quote from Miss Mason in the second volume of her books, “Children will readily hang the mere facts upon the idea as upon a peg capable of sustaining all that is needful to retain.” As time went on, words were added in to create a deeper meaning to PEG. Prepare. Explore. Grow. The families that founded PEG had a deep desire to prepare for a life of service to God and our neighbors, explore the amazing world God has made and grow in wisdom by studying the good, the true and the beautiful. As we grew to accommodate the diverse needs of our families, including a comprehensive high school program, we officially became a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 2023. That’s PEGs history and for the last 5 years, God has guided and directed the yearly plans for PEG and we are trusting Him for the future!
The Purpose:
Our purpose is to build a cooperative Christian learning community that cultivates excellent habits of mind and heart and promotes family culture, all under the lordship of Jesus Christ. We want our children to have minds trained to critically evaluate and hearts trained to fully appreciate the wonders and mysteries of living in the world that God has given us.
The Beliefs:
….that the Bible is the Word of God and without error in the original writings, and is to be the only rule and authority for faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:21)
….in the one true God who is eternally and equally existent in three persons: God the Father; God the Son; and, God the Holy Spirit. (John 10:30; 2 Corinthians 13:14; 1 Peter 1:2)
….that man came by direct creation of God and not by evolution. (Genesis 1-2; John 1:3; Colossians 1:16-17)
….that man was created in the image of God. Through man’s sin (by nature a sinner from birth), he was separated from God, becoming spiritually dead and needing to be regenerated. (Genesis 1:26-27; John 3:3; Romans 5:15)
….salvation is offered as a gift, free to the sinner by grace alone, through faith in Christ and repentance towards sin. Salvation is only through the shed blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. (John 1:12; Ephesians 1:7; 2:8-9)
….in the deity of Jesus Christ and that He was virgin-born, sinless, died on the cross, is the propitiation for the sins of the world, was physically raised from the dead on the third day, which ensures the resurrection of all believers, and He is coming again. (Matt 1:23, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Acts 16:31, 1 Corinthians 3-4, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17)
….that marriage is the foundation of family life, and that God’s design for marriage is between one man and one woman and anything outside that is contrary to the Word of God (Romans 1:18-32, Matt 19:4-5).
….We believe that God is the giver of life and all human life is sacred and to be protected. (Genesis 1:27; Job 12:9-10; Psalm 139:13-16; Exodus 20:13; Psalm 82:3-4
The Mission:
The mission of PEG is to support homeschooling families by providing cooperative educational opportunities and creating a faith-based learning community.
The Goals:
One of the goals is to gather families who love God, enjoy learning, and value community. Another is to seek to provide high academic standards with quality curriculum choices based off of Classical Charlotte Mason principles. Because these are our goals, we look to add families who are active participants in their local church body, are interested in educating through a lense of presenting truth, goodness and beauty to their children, and have an excitement about contributing to the edifying environment of PEG.
The Format:
Currently, PEG operates with a Cooperative (Co-op) model for Kindergarten, elementary and middle-school (7th - 8th) grades, facilitating a collaborative environment that supports both students and mothers. The program not only emphasizes a strong foundational curriculum, but also provides a welcoming space for engaging students. PEG High School program offers drop-off tutorial classes for students in ninth through twelfth grade. This program further exemplifies PEG's commitment to accessibility and community involvement, ensuring that quality educational support is available to all who seek it. Please visit the Co-op or High School tab for more specific information about what we offer.
Thoughts about PEG!
“PEG has been more than an academic source for our family, it has been a source of friendships and joy! We look forward to going every week and are thankful for the opportunity to contribute to and gain from such a great community.

“I’m a junior at PEG currently taking chemistry with Mrs. Parker. This was my first year at PEG, I have really enjoyed getting to know my classmates and learning chemistry. I like how Mrs Parker teaches chemistry with real-world examples and experiments. What I like about PEG is that they make everyone feel equal and don’t let anyone feel left out.”
— Student
“Our family has been truly blessed by PEG. It’s more than just a place for academic growth; it’s a community rooted in faith where families come together to support and encourage on another. The shared values and sense of purpose make this co-op a unique and powerful environment for both our children and us as parents. We love how every lesson is infused with biblical principles, fostering not only intellectual growth but spiritual growth as well. It’s a place where we can grow in faith, learn together and build lasting friendships centered on Christ. It truly has become a family and we are so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such a wonderful, loving community.”

“I love seeing my friends every week. The classes are fun and my teachers are nice!”
— Student
“We started PEG in 2024. I have two boys one in 11th grade and one in 9th grade. My 9th grader has some physical challenges that has honestly kept me from putting him in other coop’s in the past. I could not be happier with PEG! Both of my boys really love going and have just thrived this year both academically as well as socially. I am so Thankful to have found PEG and I’m really looking forward to the future.”

“You will not find a better science teacher than Mrs. Simonis. Her love for science provides the students with the perfect environment to drive students to love to learn and do their best. Mrs. Simonis has the magic touch of challenging our son in a fun classroom setting. Her love for students is evident in all she does.”
— Parent
“My experience at PEG has been great! It was my first year at a co-op and Mrs. Simonis has been a lot of help if I did not understand something. She is also a very funny and an engaging teacher making class feel short and rewarding to learn. The other students are kind and fun to be around which puts the cherry on top with my experience at PEG.
— Student
“I love coming aside like minded families and learning together. PEG allows us to have fellowship while learning about God's amazing creation!”
— Parent
“As a homeschool mom, high school sciences have been something I have not wanted to tackle. PEG has been a blessing, because it has provided teachers who know and love sciences. My daughter has been able to learn and enjoy the labs with friends. I’m very thankful for PEG and the opportunity for us to participate.”

“I have been part of PEG co-op and both Biology with Mrs. Simonis and Chemistry with Mrs. Parker. While my favorite part of PEG is building friendships with my classmates, I am grateful for the teachers and the great job they do explaining challenging material.”
